All patients coming to Manifestsenteret by reference are struggling with both drug addiction and mental health problems. Evidence-based and theoretical knowledge of psychiatry and psychology as well as knowledge from the field of nursing and the social scientific disciplines are used to treat these disorders. The treatment is largely based on national guidelines for ROP disorders as well as other policies and guidelines for the treatment of mental and behavioral disorders.

In addition, the treatment is based on experiences from clinical work. These experiences together with input from the patients are attempted integrated into clinical understanding and practice. The treatment intervenes in most areas of the patient’s life. This requires extensive interdisciplinary collaboration. It is crucial for treatment outcome that clinicians, safety personnel and the patient work together to achieve important treatment goals. A fundamental attitude of clinical work is that patients, despite their mental and drug related problems, also possesses resources, capabilities and solutions. These are essential assets in the treatment.
